Oh, the ups and downs of weight loss! Wednesday was a GREAT day! Thursday? Not so much. My steps were good and I logged in ALL my food, even though I didn't want to. Both those choices were positive. However, a midnight raid of the fridge spoiled my calorie deficit.
I basically ate an entire meal around midnight and then returned to bed. I must confess that I thought about not recording it, not fessing up to the blog, or possibly recording it as my breakfast.
Nighttime eating has always been a problem for me. Since I was a little girl I have gotten up in the middle of the night and had a snack. I've shared my sleep problems here before. The midnight eating and sleep problems are certainly related. Since I've been wearing the band I have discovered that I lay down about 8 hours and sleep between 5 and 6. Getting up and eating has always allowed me to go back to bed and sleep some more. Clearly, this is a problem that must be solved.
It's not that I can't fall asleep. I fall asleep right away. It's that I can't stay asleep. According to the armband, I wake up every couple hours. Sometimes I get up and go to the bathroom. Sometimes I get a drink. Sometime I roll over and lay there for a minute before I go back to sleep. Sometimes I get up and eat. I am going to buy some melatonin (sp?) today and see if that helps ...

Diana, Life is Messy. I am so glad that you decided to be honest about the midnight snack. Being honest here means you are being honest with yourself! You rock!
ReplyDeleteNow, I have to say that even though you ate that meal at midnight, you are still much better off than you were 2 weeks ago! You still had a deficit AND you were active! You are getting healthier everyday. Keep up the "work" you are doing and try to have some veggies to munch on in the middle of the night. Perhaps a salad can always be prepared and in the fridge. Nothing wrong with eating if you are prepared. I don't have any other advise as I have never had this problem.
